Cheering on the Ice Dogs (with a little help — free tickets. Perk of the gig).

Being a public address announcer for a sports team has been a dream of mine since I heard Ray Clay announce the starting lineup “for your world champion Chicago Bulls!”

I relished the rare opportunities I had to serve as PA announcer for North Central College’s football and baseball teams (during my brief tenure as sports information director). But my dream finally came true when I was jokingly announcing my students walking into class one day, and one student who interned for the Georgia club hockey team said, “You should be their announcer. They need one.”

Three years later and I still love adding to the excitement of Akins Arena, announcing for “your conference champion Georgia Ice Dogs.”

In 2019, I became the announcer for arena football’s Peach State Cats of the American Arena League.
